The ASSISTANT SECURITY OPERATIONS MANAGER will be responsible for managing the operations in its respective area in line with Afrisec Group policies and procedures to ensure that the best possible service is provided to the current clients and any possible new clients in the future.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operational Management:
Objective: Ensure efficient and effective management of all aspects of physical security of our clients buildings, grounds and assets in transit in line with the values of Afrisec Group
- Managing and overseeing of daily operations in area of responsibility.
- Implementation and adherence to the Afrisec Group Policies and Procedures.
- Develop and maintain record of security threats and risk to mitigate future threats and limit the risk to the operations.
- Ensure company equipment is being looked after and controlled and appropriate measures are in place with regards to company assets.
- Ensure the functioning of a comprehensive fleet management system.
- Continued evaluation of operational responsibilities to ensure best practices are being implemented and maintained.
- Make sure client relationships at local level are being looked after with regards to the area of operation.
- Responsible to ensure that liaison is done with all support services in his area of operations and the relationships is maintained.
- Act as a focal point for any investigations and or security breaches; and ensure investigations are conducted legally, ethically and on a timely and cost-effective basis.
- Responsible for formulating site instructions and ensure that these instructions are being followed and maintained.
- Manage and monitor the Online Tracking System
- Responsible for the logistics regarding retrieval and placement of tracking units.
- Responsible for the development of the armed guarding component of the business.
- Ensuring regular supervision and site visits of all service locations takes place.
- Ensure familiarity on all aspects of the law with regards to his operation and way of conducting business and possible changes that might influence or delay his business process.
- Responsible for accurate and timely monthly and quarterly reporting in line with Afrisec Group policies and procedures.
- Ensure regular meetings within his own staff, minutes are taken and records are kept.
2. Human Resource Development and Team Leadership:
Objective: Manage and provide effective leadership to a team.
- Direct Supervision of all middle management team members.
- Motivating, coaching, training and continuously setting and reviewing performance targets for the entire Team.
- Conducting annual appraisals with assistance from HR for the team.
- Monitoring availability and flow of personnel as well as hiring and firing of team members.
- Ensuring all personnel perform their duties according to their job descriptions and post instructions.
- Identify the training need and insure everyone in his business unit has received the correct training for their specific task according to company policies.
- Responsible for the welfare within his workforce and to develop a positive spirit within his team.
- Responsible to ensure duty rosters are formulated and followed, leave planning is being done and all functions can be maintained during this time.
- Needs to ensure that disciplinary issues are handled within the Company code of conduct and local prevailing legislation.
3. Financial Management:
Objective: Resources are appropriately and efficiently allocated and finances are properly controlled and managed to ensure the highest accountability and transparency.
- Contributing to annual business plans and budgets.
- Monitor expenditure against budgets and contribute to create accurate budgets in collaboration with the senior management team
Education & Experience
- At least 5 years experience in a security manager position or in a similar role
- Proven experience in planning and organizing daily activities
- Degree in security management or equivalent.
- Very high level of verbal communication skills
- Excellent written communication skills
- A strong track record in managing large teams
- Sound critical thinking ability
- Sound ability to manage multiple tasks and varying priorities
- Energetic self-starter requiring minimal management supervision
- Available 24/7
